*********************************************** * Sienar Flight Systems' TIE/Droid Fighter * * /o\ /o\ /o\ /o\ /o\ /o\ /o\ /o\ /o\ /o\ * *********************************************** * Modeled by: Lancer (lancer@pop.onwe.co.za) * *********************************************** Well, after a long wait, I finally modeled the TIE/D Fighter. I Don't know a lot about the TIE/D (I Don't own the "Essential Guide") but I got a scanned pic from the book on the internet, and since there is no model of it on the SWMA, I Decided to model it. It wasn't too much work (Much less than my W-Wing), and took me about four hours. Good Things: ============ Well, I gave a LOT of attention to detail, and for the first time ever (I Think) on the SWMA, a TIE with a FULLY detailed cockpit interior. And I mean instrument readout dials, the works ! (Even the interior bulkhead frames.) I Have never found a pic of an interior of a TIE/D, so it was basically everything guesswork. I Hope its accurate :-) Most of the TIEs on the SWMA have a common shiny gleamy out-of-the-box exterior, and quite frankly I hate it. It looks totally unrealistic, and the TIE/D has a more realistic, dirty exterior. The rest of the model is fully textured, and I included the textures. (I did not include the texture for the solar panels, as I used a bitmap that ships with 3D Studio. If you do not have it, please e-mail me. The mesh is not exceptionally large (20K Faces), and renders in about 15sec in 640x480 on my P150 with 32RAM. BAD THINGS: =========== Well, uh, are there any? :-) Only thing is, the TIE/D has moveable Solar panels (They Swivel) and it is not easy to move the Mesh's. (One has to do editing on the Element level) But Who wants to move them anyway ? I Will try to correct this in the Future... Well, enjoy the Model, and if there's any problems, gimme a call!
