This X-Wing mesh was painstakingly modeled with a ruler, the newest plastic model X-Wing Kit and trueSpace2. I wanted to get as anally detailed as possible with it, although it's not as detailed as it COULD be, it's still very very detailed. I used Harry Chang's seat for the cockpit, but besides that, everything is mine. :) If you look closely at the ends of the wings, you'll notice that I actually modeled the little rivets that are there. That was fun, really. I mean it. This was also my first time converting my own mesh to .3ds. It was fun, long, and definetly educational. I finally learned how to texture in 3DS4, with a bit of help from the guys in Undernet's IRC Channel #3dsmax, as well as a bit from Jose. All the maps were made in Adobe Photoshop 4.0. Umm... Some of the good things: Detail detail detail! I even made a little image map for the top of the control panel dashboard thingy that's in the cockpit. :) Let's see, because it was modeled directly from a plastic model and a ruler, I think it's fairly well proportioned if not perfect. Ok: Some of the bad things: High Poly Count... but is that REALLY bad when the SWMA is trying for the most detailed? yes and no. The Millennium Falcon Mesh is nearly impossible to use due to long rendering times. Is my X-Wing THAT bad? No. In no way. This thing can render on my P166 32 MB RAM in less than 3 minutes (Shadow mapping, not Raytrace). So it shouldn't be TOO bad. Well, I hope you like it! As always, if anyone makes any revisions on my meshes, you're perfectly welcome to, just please let me know! I wanna see too! - Little Bill (July 3, 1997) The Force Be With You!
